Elst – Geutelingen Museum
This (oven) museum is located at 3 Ommeganckstraat, within walking distance of the church. Until the 1930s it was a widespread tradition in the Flemish Ardennes to bake ‘geutelingen’ (pancakes) with willow wood around Purification. But when home industry disappeared, the tradition disappeared with it.
From the second or third weekend from January till the end of February the typical pancakes are baked again in the original ovens. A sweet smell fills the museum and brings water to the visitors’ mouth: high time to taste the ‘geutelingen’!

Nederbrakel–Triverius Documentation Centre
Triverius is an organization that studies the local customs and folklore. Its documentation centre is located on the second floor of the Brakel library (1 Tirse, 9960 Brakel). Opening hours: every Sunday from 10am to 12am. Numerous documents reveal the local customs, history, archeology, folklore and genealogy.
